ACT & Testing

Brookhaven Academy is proud to be the first school in Mississippi to implement a comprehensive ACT Success Program beginning in 8th grade and continuing through 12th grade. This program is designed to give students a long-term advantage by building skills, confidence, and familiarity with the ACT well before test day.

Rather than last-minute preparation, students at Brookhaven Academy benefit from a structured, multi-year approach that includes targeted instruction, practice testing, and proven test-taking strategies. By starting early and reinforcing these skills over time, students are better equipped to reach their full potential and maximize both college admission and scholarship opportunities.

We believe informed families are an important part of student success. Our ACT parent videos provide helpful insights into the testing process, score expectations, and ways to support your student at home. These videos are designed to answer common questions and keep families informed every step of the way.

Students have access to a variety of ACT preparation resources, including practice materials, study tools, and recommended programs. These resources are designed to reinforce classroom learning and provide additional opportunities for students to strengthen their skills and improve performance.

Students at Brookhaven Academy are encouraged to take advantage of a variety of trusted ACT preparation resources. Using high-quality practice materials and consistent study habits can significantly improve performance and confidence on test day.

College Planning

Brookhaven Academy is committed to preparing students for every step of the college admissions process, including interviews.

Starting in the 2026-27 year, mock interviews and interview preparation sessions are available to all seniors who wish to participate. These sessions are designed to help students build confidence, improve communication skills, and feel fully prepared for college and scholarship interviews.

Students have the opportunity to participate in:

Mock interview sessions with feedback
Interview preparation workshops and tip sessions
Guidance on how to present themselves clearly and confidently
Interview preparation sessions are offered four times during the fall semester and four times during the spring semester, giving students multiple opportunities to practice and improve.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of these sessions to feel confident and prepared when interview opportunities arise.
